Aldi Closes Daventry Store Next Week, Opens New One Day Later

Aldi is set to close its store on Sheaf Street in Daventry on November 26, after 14 years of operation. The closure is part of the supermarket's major UK expansion plan, which includes opening 16 new stores before Christmas.

The new Aldi store at Abbey Retail Park will open the following day, November 27, ensuring minimal disruption for shoppers. The new location will replace the existing one and will be officially opened by Team GB hockey star and bronze medalist Sarah Jones.

Store manager Josh Edwards expressed excitement about the opening, highlighting the special appearance by Sarah Jones. The first 30 customers at the new store will receive complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables from Aldi's Super 6 range.

Aldi is investing £650 million in its store opening and refurbishment programme in 2025, with each new site creating around 40 jobs. New store colleagues will earn from £13.02 an hour nationally and from £14.35 inside the M25.

Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said the rapid opening of 16 stores in just over five weeks demonstrates the company's growth ambitions and commitment to making affordable food accessible to more communities.

Aldi has also confirmed its Christmas and New Year opening hours. Stores will close at 6pm on Christmas Eve and remain closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. They will reopen at 8am on December 27, close at 6pm on New Year's Eve, and remain closed on New Year's Day.
