Bayern Munich Confirm Michael Olise Is Not for Sale After Chelsea's Record Bid
Bayern Munich Confirm Michael Olise Is Not for Sale

Bayern Munich have firmly stated that Michael Olise is not for sale, following a club policy established after they turned down a world-record offer from Chelsea for Franck Ribery over a decade ago. The German giants insist that money is not a factor in any potential transfer for the French winger.

Olise's Impact at Bayern

Olise has been a revelation since joining from Crystal Palace in 2024, forming a formidable attacking trio with Harry Kane and Luis Diaz. The 24-year-old has netted 21 goals this season, including a stunning strike against Real Madrid in the Champions League. His performances have made him an indispensable asset for the Bavarians.

The Ribery Precedent

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, former Bayern CEO, revealed the club's philosophy was shaped by Chelsea's audacious bid for Ribery in 2009. "In 2009, we received an incredible offer from Chelsea for Franck Ribéry. At the time, it would have been a new world transfer record," Rummenigge explained. "I then went to our then CFO Karl Hopfner and Uli Hoeneß. We discussed for two hours what to do with that offer. On that day, we made a fundamental decision: that in the future, we would no longer sell any player whom we would miss from a sporting perspective. And that unwritten rule still applies today. For a player like Olise, there is no price tag that would make us flinch."

Olise's Humility Praised

Rummenigge also highlighted Olise's character, describing him as a "wonderful player" who is "so reserved and almost media-shy." He added, "That is the exception in today's world. He is a good guy, and on the pitch he is of course outstanding, the way he celebrates football and almost performs magic. That is why it doesn't surprise me that he is so incredibly popular and hyped among our fans."

Kompany's View

Bayern boss Vincent Kompany believes Olise has the potential to become one of the world's best. "He's on the right track now. Everything he does is right. His level now is one of the best in Europe," Kompany stated.

Olise joined Bayern for around £50 million, but the club's stance ensures he will remain a key part of their plans for the foreseeable future.
