Millions of households across the UK could be entitled to a £299 cost of living payment from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as part of ongoing financial support during the economic crisis.
Who is eligible for the £299 payment?
The payment is available to those receiving certain benefits, including:
- Universal Credit
- Pension Credit
- Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA)
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Income Support
- Working Tax Credit
- Child Tax Credit
When will the payment be made?
The DWP has confirmed the payment will be automatically issued between 6 February and 22 February 2024. There's no need to apply – if you're eligible, the money will appear in your bank account.
Why is this payment being made?
This is the third and final instalment of the government's cost of living support package, following previous payments of £301 and £300. The measures aim to help vulnerable households cope with rising inflation and energy bills.
What if I don't receive my payment?
If you believe you should have received the payment but haven't by 23 February, you can report it missing via the government's cost of living payment portal.
Remember, these payments are tax-free, won't count towards the benefit cap, and won't affect existing benefit awards.
