Marks & Spencer's milk chocolate cookie has been named the top flavour in a taste test conducted by Metro's lifestyle team. The cookie, described as a 'luxury cupboard staple', won unanimous approval with no negative comments from any of the testers.
Lifestyle reporter Charlie Sawyer called it her 'favourite', recommending dipping it in hot chocolate for extra sweetness. Food writer Courtney Pochin praised its soft, chewy texture and generous chocolate pieces, noting the flavour is 'not too sweet'. She suggested using the cookies to make ice cream sandwiches in summer.
The double chocolate cookie, which sparked debate, claimed second place. Newsletter producer Dylan Mangan said it achieves a chocolatey flavour without being too rich, while commissioning editor Maicey Navarro Griffiths likened it to 'a brownie and a cookie having a miracle baby'.
Third place went to the gingerbread flavour, a limited-edition Christmas release. Lifestyle editor Kristina Beanland praised its 'aggressive sweetness' and the salted caramel fudge pieces that add gooeyness, admitting she has eaten an entire pack in one sitting.
White chocolate and peppermint cookies also featured in the ranking, with white chocolate described as 'simple but stunning' by some, though others found it overly sweet. The peppermint flavour, another festive option, was called 'divine' by news reporter Brooke Davies and 'addictive' by US news reporter Sarah Hooper, who bought over a dozen packs last Christmas.
