Londoners Bemoan Awful Weather as Torrential Rain Sweeps

Wet and miserable conditions are once again sweeping across the capital this Thursday, prompting Londoners to lament the unpredictable weather.

Record Heatwave Followed by Rain

The city experienced a record-setting heatwave last month, with May 26 becoming the hottest day in May on record, reaching 35.1C at Kew Gardens. However, since the start of June, London has been plagued by continuous wind and rain.

Frustration has mounted, with many residents turning to social media to complain and express hopes for a return of sunny skies.

Social Media Reactions

One X user wrote: "I thought I was arriving in a warm summer London. Turns out British summer is still in beta testing. It's bloody cold and it's raining. London welcomed me back with grey skies, cold wind and a reminder that British summer is mostly a rumour. Who approved this weather update?"

Another commented: "Heavy rain in London. Where has summer gone?" while a third said: "London weather is so miserable, how is it cold, raining and grey in June?"

A fourth person added: "Gosh would this rain just stop already. How am I supposed to show off my French pedicure when it's raining and cold all the time. Hope that heatwave we had in May wasn't 'summer'."

Events Affected by Rain

One commenter hoped for improved weather at the upcoming Harry Styles concert this weekend, writing: "I really hope Harry brings some hot weather to London cause there is no way I'm gonna wear a mini skirt in the p***ing rain."

Tennis fans at the Queen's Club Championships also expressed frustration as drizzle regularly interrupted play. One wrote: "The rain in London is insane. GO AWAY."

Improving Outlook

Fortunately, the forecast for the coming days looks much better. According to the Met Office, Friday may see a few drizzly outbreaks, but the capital should remain mostly dry.

The weekend is expected to stay dry as well, with warmer, sunnier weather likely to lift spirits.
