The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has updated its travel advice for several countries, with 76 out of 226 destinations now flagged as having no-go zones. Reasons include political conflicts, natural disasters, security issues, health risks, and legal differences with the UK.
The FCDO advises against “all travel” or “all but essential travel” to entire countries or parts of countries across Europe, Africa, Asia, and South America. Travellers who ignore these warnings risk invalidating their travel insurance and may receive limited consular support in emergencies.
The FCDO defines essential travel as a personal decision based on individual circumstances, such as urgent family or business commitments. It emphasises that only the traveller can make an informed choice after considering the risks.
British nationals are urged to check the latest FCDO advice before planning trips, as the list of affected destinations is regularly reviewed and updated.
