A plane passenger has captured stunning aerial footage of severe storms sweeping across Oklahoma, providing a unique perspective on the powerful weather system. Ben Levine recorded the extraordinary video on Thursday, 23 April, as he flew past Enid, a city of around 50,000 residents.
Tornado Confirmed Near Enid
The National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado moved across parts of Enid, causing significant damage. The powerful storm ripped roofs off buildings and knocked down power poles, leaving a trail of destruction. Despite the severity of the weather, the Garfield County Sheriff's Office reported no immediate fatalities and only minor injuries hours after the tornado passed.
Emergency Alerts Issued
A tornado emergency alert was issued for Enid by the National Weather Service in Norman, warning of possible golf ball-sized hail. The alert remained in effect until 8:45pm CDT. The video footage, described as apocalyptic, shows the storms from a vantage point high above the ground, highlighting the sheer scale and power of the weather system.
The storm system brought severe conditions to the region, with residents urged to take shelter. The quick response from emergency services helped minimize casualties, and cleanup efforts are underway.
