A United Airlines flight from Chicago to New York made an emergency landing in Pittsburgh on Saturday morning after crew members reported a 'possible security issue', according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
United flight 2092, which had departed from Chicago O'Hare airport en route to LaGuardia airport, was diverted to Pittsburgh International Airport. Passengers evacuated the aircraft via emergency slides, a United spokesperson confirmed.
FBI agents, bomb technicians, and a canine unit responded to the scene. The Allegheny County Police Bomb Squad conducted a sweep of the aircraft, passengers, and luggage, which yielded negative results, police said.
The airport remained open and operational, and passengers were rebooked on another flight. Officials did not disclose the nature of the threat or whether anyone had been taken into custody.
