YouTube Unveils 2025 Recap: Your Personalised Year in Video
YouTube launches 2025 Recap feature globally

YouTube has officially launched its answer to the popular annual wrap-up trend, introducing a comprehensive new Recap feature for 2025. This tool provides users with a detailed, personalised breakdown of their entire video consumption over the past year, moving beyond the platform's previous summaries which focused solely on music and gaming.

What's Inside Your YouTube Recap?

The new feature generates up to 12 individual cards for each user, creating a visual story of their year on the platform. These cards highlight a viewer's most-watched channels, dominant interests, and unique viewing patterns. In a move reminiscent of personality quizzes, YouTube also uses this data to assign each user a specific "viewer personality" type, categorising them based on their consumption habits.

The feature is currently live for users in North America, with a global rollout scheduled for this week. To access your personal Recap, you need to navigate to the "You" tab within the YouTube mobile application or simply visit the dedicated webpage at youtube.com/Recap.

Eligibility and How to Get Yours

Not every account will automatically qualify for a Recap. YouTube has set specific criteria that must be met. Users must be signed into their YouTube account, be aged 13 or over, and have an active watch history. Crucially, accounts with auto-delete settings enabled for their history will not be eligible to receive the personalised recap.

More Than Just a Personal Recap

Alongside the personalised feature, YouTube has also published its broader, platform-wide "End of the Year" lists. These annual rankings detail the top trending topics, the most popular video creators, the leading podcasts, and the songs that dominated the platform throughout 2025.

This dual release strategy allows users to not only reflect on their personal digital footprint but also to see how their tastes aligned with or diverged from global trends on one of the world's largest video platforms.
