Newcastle United have confirmed that midfielder Lewis Miley will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a serious injury during training.
The Premier League club announced that the 19-year-old fractured his fibula in his right leg during a training session on Tuesday.
Miley is scheduled to see a specialist consultant on Wednesday, and Newcastle have stated that he is expected to return for the start of pre-season.
The young midfielder has made 34 appearances across all competitions for Newcastle this season, demonstrating his versatility by filling in at right-back as well as playing in his usual midfield role.
His absence could pave the way for Kieran Trippier to return to Newcastle's starting line-up for the club's final three fixtures before he leaves St James' Park this summer.
