Golf star Rory McIlroy has offered unexpected wedding advice to pop superstar Taylor Swift and her fiancé, Travis Kelce, ahead of their highly anticipated nuptials. The couple is reportedly set to tie the knot on July 3 in New York City, with a guest list expected to include some of the biggest names in entertainment.
McIlroy, 37, appeared on the New Heights podcast hosted by Travis and his brother Jason Kelce. The Northern Irish golfer, who married former PGA of America employee Erica Stoll in April 2017 before briefly filing for divorce in May 2024, shared insights from his own wedding experience.
McIlroy's Wedding Wisdom
Speaking to Travis, McIlroy said: "It's a bit like, and Travis, you'll feel this this year. Whenever you're sitting at your wedding, you have all the people in a room, it's amazing to have all these people in the same room. You're just sitting there and it's surreal. It's unbelievable." Travis responded enthusiastically: "I can't wait."
The golfer also offered advice on celebratory drinks, given his passion for wine collecting. When Travis asked for wine recommendations, McIlroy suggested a French Bordeaux, which Travis agreed was a "deal."
Taylor and Travis's Wedding Plans
Taylor and Travis announced their engagement in August last year after dating since mid-2023. The couple has remained tight-lipped about ceremony details, with Travis's family also avoiding questions. Kylie Kelce, Travis's sister-in-law, said on her podcast: "Quit asking me and my mother-in-law about upcoming nuptials, nobody's telling you anything, I don't have any details." Donna Kelce, Travis's mother, added that she is not deeply involved in planning and that her family is good at keeping secrets.
Taylor gave a slight insight during an appearance on Heart Breakfast in October, saying: "You would think that I had been that type of person who would have obsessed over the idea of a wedding my whole life, but I actually never thought about what I would ever do or what I would want until I met the person." Travis hinted at live music over a DJ, with Taylor suggesting her close friend Ed Sheeran might perform: "Ed, if there's a stage, you know that you'll be on it."
