Paul Pogba has offered a glimpse of what Manchester United would gain if they secure Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni. The French midfielder is reportedly high on United's wishlist and could be sold by the European champions if they find a suitable replacement.
Pogba's Verdict on Tchouameni
Former Manchester United midfielder Pogba is well acquainted with Tchouameni, having played alongside him for France and winning the Nations League together in 2021. Speaking that year, Pogba praised the then-21-year-old, telling RTL: "Very, very good. He's not a boy, he's a man. It's a pleasure to play next to him. He brings a lot of energy, extraordinary technical and physical quality."
The duo's time together in the national team was brief, as Pogba has not represented France since 2022, while Tchouameni has become a key figure for Didier Deschamps.
United's Midfield Targets
Signing a player of Tchouameni's calibre would be a major statement for United, who have been linked with several midfielders, including Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson and Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton. Real Madrid are reportedly interested in Manchester City's Rodri, which could facilitate Tchouameni's departure.
Varane's Influence
Tchouameni has already received insight into life at Old Trafford from former Real Madrid teammate Raphael Varane, who moved to United in 2021. Varane told Tchouameni on a podcast: "Madrid is indescribable, but I wanted to experience something else. In England, especially Manchester, you feel the passion for football every day. I have no regrets."
United will hope these words leave a lasting impression as Tchouameni considers his future.
