French football club Nice has issued a strong condemnation after a group of their own supporters physically attacked players and staff in shocking scenes following a sixth consecutive defeat.
Training Centre Confrontation Turns Violent
The disturbing incident occurred on Sunday, 2nd December 2025, after Nice suffered a 3-1 loss to Lorient in Ligue 1. Frustrated fans confronted the team at their training centre, where shouting of insults and demands for greater commitment quickly escalated into physical violence.
Reports from the scene indicate that some supporters managed to board the team bus. Once inside, they allegedly spat on individuals and launched physical assaults on key figures including players Jérémie Boga and Terem Moffi, as well as the club's sporting director, Florian Maurice.
Blows to Head and Groin Lead to Medical Leave
The assaults were severe enough to leave players requiring medical attention. It is reported that the attacks included blows to the head and groin. As a direct consequence, both Jérémie Boga and Terem Moffi have been granted medical leave to recover from their injuries.
In an official statement, the club acknowledged the deep frustration among the fanbase due to the team's poor run of form. Nice currently sits 10th in Ligue 1 and is bottom of their Europa League group. However, the club was unequivocal in its response to the events, labelling the supporters' actions as completely unacceptable.
Club Condemns 'Unacceptable' Actions
While understanding the passion and disappointment that accompanies a losing streak, the club firmly separated criticism from criminal behaviour. The statement emphasised that violence towards players and staff could never be justified, regardless of on-pitch results.
This incident casts a dark shadow over French football and raises serious questions about security protocols at club facilities. The physical and psychological impact on the assaulted individuals, alongside the broader team morale, presents a significant challenge for Nice as they look to halt their dismal run of six straight defeats.
