Viewers of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! were left scratching their heads this week as YouTuber AngryGinge demonstrated a rather unconventional approach to personal hygiene that sparked widespread debate among the show's dedicated fanbase.
The Deodorant Debate That Divided Fans
During Wednesday's episode, the 24-year-old streamer, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, was captured applying roll-on deodorant in a manner that immediately caught viewers' attention. Rather than applying the product directly to his skin, AngryGinge opted to roll it onto his t-shirt, leaving many questioning the effectiveness of his technique.
The unusual habit didn't go unnoticed on social media platform X, where one astonished viewer commented: 'Watching Ginge putting deodorant on his t-shirt pits makes me glad we haven't progressed to smell-e-vision yet. That camp must be lifting.'
Another fan couldn't resist a humorous jab, remarking: 'Ginge would've had more luck with Shona's air freshener.' Meanwhile, a third simply expressed their confusion, asking: 'What on earth did ginge do with the deodorant on his top?'
However, some viewers came to the streamer's defence, suggesting there might be method behind the apparent madness. One supporter pointed out: 'He probably didn't have a choice in that heat!' implying that applying deodorant to both skin and clothing could provide maximum odour protection in the challenging jungle conditions.
Camp Split and Emotional Struggles
The deodorant drama unfolded against the backdrop of a significant camp shake-up, as producers introduced a 'rivals' twist that saw campmates paired against each other based on public votes. AngryGinge found himself pitted against his close friend Aitch, setting the stage for an emotional confrontation.
The pair's first challenge saw them immersed in a tank of offal, racing to scoop the unpleasant substance into boxes. Fortunately for Ginge, he emerged victorious, securing his place in the main camp - now rebranded as 'Win City' - alongside fellow winners Lisa, Jack, Ruby, Alex and Vogue.
The six losing campmates - Aitch, Martin, Kelly, Tom, Eddie and Shona - weren't so fortunate, finding themselves banished to the dreary 'Doomsville' camp on basic rations.
Earlier in the week, viewers had witnessed a more vulnerable side to the typically resilient YouTuber. In emotional Bush Telegraph scenes aired on Monday, Ginge opened up about struggling with homesickness, sharing: 'It's a bit of a s**t day really, I just feel as though I'm missing home, missing speaking to my family, food and drink as well is a massive part but they say you have up days and down days...'
His mother Michelle later told The Sun about her reaction to seeing her son's distress: 'My heart absolutely sank, I started crying. It was so hard to see, because I know Morgan is such a strong person, so he must have been struggling a lot. I just can't wait to give him the biggest hug on that bridge.'
Ruby Wax's Controversial Underwear Gesture
Another moment that captured viewers' attention involved veteran comedian Ruby Wax, whose attempt at providing moral support before one of Ginge's trials divided audience opinion.
The 72-year-old stopped the YouTuber as he prepared to depart for his Terrflying Tours trial, presenting him with what she described as her 'lucky underpants'. Ruby explained: 'I just want to give you the lucky underpants. I always wear red when, you know, I want to pull off something.'
Ginge's reaction to camera suggested he was less than enthusiastic about the unusual good luck charm, stating: 'Ruby gave me her lucky underwear. However, we will see how lucky they are today.' He later added: 'I won't be touching them. I won't be doing anything with them.' and 'They will be remaining in the bag until I get back to camp and Ruby can retrieve them from the bag.'
Ruby attempted to reassure him by declaring 'The pants are clean!' as he departed, accompanied by Lisa Riley's shouted farewell: 'Bye darling!'
The underwear exchange prompted strong reactions from viewers, with one commenting on X: 'Anyone else think Ruby giving Ginge her underwear is just weird and disgusting. Imagine the outrage if it was the other way round!'
Another viewer expressed concern about age-appropriate behaviour, writing: 'For a woman of her age the way ruby wax speaks is disgusting. Very unlady like and I felt embarrassed having my 11 year old watch that #imaceleb @ofcom.'
However, not all responses were negative. Some fans found humour in the situation, with one tweeting: 'Ruby giving Ginge her lucky pants was hilarious.' while another remarked: 'I never thought in 2025 I would be listening to angry ginge talking about Ruby wax's knickers but here we are.'
As the jungle adventure continues, viewers remain divided on both the deodorant technique and the underwear incident, proving that in the I'm A Celebrity camp, it's not just the Bushtucker Trials that generate controversy.
