Player's Perspective on the Deal

In a February interview with WFAA-TV, Smith-Njigba expressed confidence in his value, stating, "I think I deserve to be the highest-paid at my position, just what I give to the game and the community, I give it my all. And I think that's worth a lot, lot more."

He added, "I would play this game for free, I love this game so much, but you don't have to. I'm learning to be a good businessman, and we need that check at the end of the day."

Exceptional 2025 Season Performance

This contract extension comes on the heels of an outstanding 2025 season where Smith-Njigba was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year. He set franchise records with 119 receptions and 1,793 receiving yards while adding 10 touchdown catches.

His postseason performance was equally remarkable, with 17 catches for 199 yards and two touchdowns during the playoffs. This included four receptions for 27 yards in Super Bowl LX, where the Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29-13.

Career Achievements and Background

At just 24 years old, Smith-Njigba has already compiled impressive career statistics with 282 receptions for 3,551 yards and 20 touchdown catches across 51 NFL games, including 36 starts.

The Seahawks exercised his fifth-year option last Friday, demonstrating their commitment to the talented receiver. Selected 20th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft from Ohio State, Smith-Njigba is a two-time Pro Bowl selection who has quickly established himself as one of the league's premier offensive weapons.

This historic contract not only rewards Smith-Njigba for his exceptional performance but also positions the Seahawks with a cornerstone player as they build toward future championship contention.
