The United States Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has registered the web domains alien.gov and aliens.gov, adding them to the official government website registry. The move comes a month after President Donald Trump directed agencies to identify and release files related to unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), commonly known as UFOs.
White House deputy press secretary Anna Kelly responded to a journalist's query about the websites with “Stay tuned!” and an alien emoji, fueling speculation. The registrations follow multiple congressional hearings and reports on UAPs in recent years, which have largely dismissed evidence of alien activity but left some sightings unresolved.
Michael Gold, former NASA associate administrator and member of its independent UAP study team, welcomed the development. “The fact that we’re discussing that the administration is reviewing files, releasing data via websites is a real accomplishment,” he said. “We should thank the administration for supporting transparency.”
Trump has directed government agencies to begin releasing files on “alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena, and unidentified flying objects.” He has previously said he cannot confirm belief in aliens but has spoken with “serious people” who report unusual sightings. Other senior officials, including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, have expressed varying degrees of interest in the topic.
Official interest is largely driven by national security concerns. ABC News reported that Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana issued a shelter-in-place order earlier this month after reports of multiple waves of UAPs operating overhead. Gold noted that UAPs have united politicians across the aisle, including Representatives Tim Burchett and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Senator Chuck Schumer.
While Gold cautioned against expecting revolutionary revelations, he described any effort toward transparency as “inherently positive.” The issue continues to gain bipartisan traction, with former President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton also having commented on the possibility of extraterrestrial life.
