"The modern game is becoming increasingly difficult to understand," Dyche told reporters post-match. "We're told one thing one week, and something completely different the next. The consistency, or lack thereof, is what truly baffles me."

The Everton boss highlighted particular frustration with the penalty decision that cost his team two valuable points in their battle against relegation. "When you see the incident replayed, it's difficult to comprehend how that constitutes a clear and obvious error. Ashley made minimal contact, if any, and suddenly we're penalised for what appeared to be a routine challenge."

The Everton manager stopped short of directly criticising the officials but made his displeasure with the decision-making process abundantly clear.

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo saw matters differently, suggesting the correct decisions were ultimately made. "These are tight matches where small moments change everything. The technology is there to ensure fairness, and today it served its purpose," the Portuguese tactician remarked.
