Maxx Crosby's Surprise Trade News Halts Power Slap Attendance
Star pass rusher Maxx Crosby was on his way to a Power Slap event in Las Vegas when he received the unexpected news of his trade to the Baltimore Ravens. The former Raiders standout was enjoying his Friday evening and was moments away from arriving at the Zuffa-owned fighting circuit when company president Dana White disclosed that Crosby learned of the move simultaneously.
Dana White Reveals Crosby's Immediate Reaction
'He was just pulling in to Power Slap, and he just found out at the same time,' White explained during a boxing press conference. 'He didn't know, either... He turned around, and went home, and said, "I'm not going to Power Slap. I'm going to lay low for a few days."'
White further informed reporters that Crosby intends to continue residing in Las Vegas whenever he is not required to be in Baltimore for team commitments. 'Obviously, he loves this city. He said, "I just paid my house off, I'm not going anywhere,"' White stated. 'He's gonna, obviously, continue to live in Las Vegas, but he's excited about the potential in Baltimore, too, about possibly winning a Super Bowl.'
Crosby's Career Transition and Trade Details
Maxx Crosby was originally drafted by the Raiders from Eastern Michigan in 2019, spending seven seasons with the franchise, including its final year in Oakland. After the Raiders faced challenges in developing into a championship contender, Crosby formally requested a trade.
The trade to the Ravens was finalized after Baltimore relinquished two first-round draft picks, including this year's 14th overall selection, to secure Crosby's services. In a social media video posted following the trade, Crosby expressed enduring loyalty, describing himself as a 'Raider for life' and expressing hope to eventually conclude his professional career 'in a Raiders jersey whenever that time comes.'
Integration into the Ravens' Defensive Roster
For the immediate future, Crosby joins a formidable defensive lineup in Baltimore, featuring players such as Kyle Hamilton, Nate Wiggins, Roquan Smith, and Nnamdi Madubuike. This acquisition significantly bolsters the Ravens' defensive capabilities as they aim for Super Bowl contention.
The trade not only marks a pivotal shift in Crosby's career but also underscores the unpredictable nature of professional sports transactions, where personal plans can be abruptly altered by franchise decisions.
