Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim's frustrations with his team were laid bare during a chaotic 4-4 draw against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Monday evening, with new footage capturing a pointed critique of defender Leny Yoro.
Dugout Outburst Captured on Camera
In a match where Manchester United led on three separate occasions, only to be pegged back each time, the pressure told on the touchline. Audio picked up near the home dugout revealed Amorim expressing his exasperation in Portuguese to his backroom staff. The United boss was heard saying: 'The ball has been gone for half an hour, what is Leny doing?'
It remains unclear at which precise moment of the frenetic encounter the comment was made. The clip, shared widely on social media platform X, highlighted the simmering tension as points slipped away for the third consecutive home game. This follows a 1-0 loss to a 10-man Everton and a late concession in a 1-1 draw with West Ham.
Yoro Substituted in Second Half Turnaround
The player in question, Leny Yoro, was substituted by Amorim in the 69th minute, with the Red Devils trailing 3-2 at the time. He was replaced by the returning Lisandro Martinez. The change appeared to have an immediate impact, as United scored twice in three minutes through Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha to surge into a 4-3 lead.
However, the defensive frailties resurfaced late on. Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi netted an 84th-minute equaliser to ensure the points were shared in an eight-goal thriller, leaving United to rue more dropped points.
Amorim's Post-Match Disappointment
Speaking after the final whistle, Amorim did not hold back in his assessment, bluntly stating his side had 'lost two points'. He pinpointed a lack of first-half clinical edge and a failure to manage the game late on as the primary causes.
'It's really disappointing, we are really disappointed. Crazy game,' Amorim said. 'It might look like we lost the two points in the second half but I think we lost them in the first half. We dominated and created so many chances. We had to go to half-time with a different result.'
He added: 'We score two goals again and then we have to finish the game. A throw-in in our possession, we need to think about, not to go again but to take calm and to close the game.'
The result leaves Manchester United with significant work to do to solidify their defensive structure, with Amorim's visible frustration a clear signal that standards must improve quickly.
