Amorim's Fury as Man United Drop Points in West Ham Draw
Amorim angry after Man United's late West Ham setback

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim cut a furious figure after seeing his side surrender a lead to draw 1-1 with West Ham United at Old Trafford on Friday night, halting their recent momentum.

Late Hammer Blow Ends United's Hopes

Diogo Dalot's second-half strike had put the hosts on course for a valuable victory, following their comeback win at Crystal Palace just days earlier. However, Soungoutou Magassa rose to head home from a late corner in the 83rd minute, securing a crucial point for the struggling Hammers and leaving Amorim visibly seething.

The result means United's promising five-game unbeaten run is now a distant memory, replaced by a stuttering spell that included a 1-0 home defeat to Everton ten days ago. This latest failure to hold onto a lead at Old Trafford has intensified scrutiny on the team's consistency.

Amorim's Blunt and Angry Reaction

Facing the media post-match, the Portuguese coach did little to hide his emotions. "It's frustrating, it's angry, that's it," was his curt initial assessment. When pressed on how to improve performances, he offered a terse: "It's working again and trying to win the next one."

Amorim strongly rejected any suggestion that his team is regressing, despite the disappointing results. "It's not going backwards," he insisted. "The results are going backwards. We are really inconsistent." He pointed directly to the manner of the conceded goal, highlighting a failure to deal with a long ball after having the situation under control.

Seeking Consistency After Another Setback

The United boss acknowledged his own fiery temperament, referencing an incident after a 3-1 loss to Brighton in January where he hit a dressing room television. He plans to address his players in a calmer state on Friday. "I will talk to them tomorrow," he said, emphasising a recurring theme in his tenure.

"I always have the feeling that we need to score more goals," Amorim added, recalling a 4-2 win over West Ham in October where United also let a commanding lead slip before eventually securing the points. "We suffer with that, we are inconsistent and we need to improve."

Attention now turns to a tricky Monday night fixture away at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Meanwhile, West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo praised his team's character, stating the draw was "well deserved" after a positive reaction to going behind.
