Trump Endorses Conspiracy Theorist's 'Anti-White Racist' Claim Against Michelle Obama
President Donald Trump has amplified a far-right conspiracy theorist's inflammatory post describing former First Lady Michelle Obama as an "anti-white racist," while simultaneously launching an attack on former Obama administration official Susan Rice. The incident occurred via Trump's Truth Social account on Saturday, as the president prepares for a crucial State of the Union address facing Democratic opposition in Congress.
Targeting Black Women in Obama's Circle
In his own caption accompanying the repost from activist Laura Loomer, Trump specifically targeted Susan Rice, who currently serves on Netflix's executive board. The president issued a direct threat to the streaming giant, writing: "Netflix should fire racist, Trump Deranged Susan Rice, IMMEDIATELY, or pay the consequences." This dual attack represents a significant escalation in Trump's ongoing conflicts with figures from the Obama administration.
Loomer's Extensive Demands Against Obama Influence
Laura Loomer's original post, which Trump chose to amplify, contained substantially more extensive demands. The far-right activist urged the president to block an upcoming merger between Warner Bros. and Netflix, expressing concerns that this corporate consolidation would expand the Obamas' influence within both companies. Barack and Michelle Obama own Higher Ground Productions, a production company that creates content for Netflix's platform.
Loomer specifically warned: "Positive messaging of the Democrats' upcoming witch hunts against Trump from Barack Hussein Obama ... and his anti-White racist wife Michelle ... would likely be blasted across all streaming services as the Obamas' Higher Ground Productions continues to grow within Netflix."
Context: Response to Susan Rice's Warning
The presidential repost came in direct response to comments made by Susan Rice on a podcast hosted by former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara. Rice warned that corporations perceived as cooperating too closely with the Trump administration would face consequences if Democrats regain control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections and potentially the White House in 2028.
Rice stated: "If these corporations think that the Democrats, when they come back in power, are going to play by the old rules, and say, 'Oh, never mind. We'll forgive you for all the people you fired, all the policies and principles you've violated, all the laws you've skirted.' I think they've got another thing coming."
Continuing Fallout from Racist Ape Video Controversy
Trump's endorsement of Loomer's characterization of Michelle Obama as "racist" occurs amid ongoing controversy surrounding a separate incident. Earlier this month, the president faced widespread condemnation after a bizarre AI-generated video depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes was posted to his Truth Social account.
The racist depiction of America's first Black president and first lady drew immediate bipartisan criticism, forcing the White House to initially offer a defense before completely walking back the position and deleting the post. Republican lawmakers expressed clear discomfort with the video, with Senator Tim Scott, the Senate's sole Black Republican, explicitly labeling it as racist.
Trump has attributed responsibility for the ape video post to staffer Natalie Harp, claiming she had access to his Truth Social account and failed to watch the entire video before sharing it. The president stated: "I gave it to the people, generally they'd look at the whole thing but I guess somebody didn't and they posted it. And then we deleted it."
Loomer's Growing Influence in Trump's Circle
This incident marks neither the first time Trump has shared content from Laura Loomer nor her initial influence within his administration. Following Trump's return to the White House in 2025, the far-right activist gained unprecedented access to the Oval Office. She reportedly directed a purge of figures connected to then-National Security Adviser Michael Waltz, alleging disloyalty to the president.
Loomer has consistently advocated for loyalty-driven purges across government agencies. One notable casualty was Maurene Comey, daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, who was dismissed from the Department of Justice in July 2025. The activist herself has faced repeated accusations of racism, particularly after hurling a racial slur at Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett in late 2025, calling her a "ghetto Black B****."
The convergence of these events—Trump amplifying Loomer's inflammatory rhetoric, the ongoing fallout from the racist ape video, and the targeting of Obama administration figures—creates a volatile political landscape as the president approaches critical congressional engagements and election cycles.
