Marjorie Taylor Greene Accuses Fox News of 'Brainwashing Boomers' Over Iran War Coverage
MTG Slams Fox News as 'Fake News' Over Iran War Reporting

Former Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has dramatically turned against Fox News, levelling explosive accusations that the conservative network is "brainwashing boomers" and peddling "fake news" in its coverage of President Donald Trump's military conflict in Iran. Greene, once a staunch Trump loyalist and frequent guest on the MAGA-leaning channel, has unleashed a fierce critique of its reporting on the Middle East war.

A Sudden and Public Fallout

In a Sunday post on the social media platform X, Greene declared, "Fox News is now the fake news," following reports that thousands of U.S. troops have been deployed to the region, a move she strongly opposes. She added that the network is "brainwashing boomers to support what we voted against." This outburst marks a significant rupture between Greene and a media outlet that has long amplified Trump-aligned voices.

Echoes of Past Controversies

Greene's comments came in response to conservative commentator Ann Coulter, who also criticised Fox News on X. Coulter drew a parallel between the network's current coverage of the Iran war and its previous false claims about Dominion Voting Systems rigging the 2020 presidential election. That earlier scandal resulted in Fox News paying a $787 million settlement after hosts and guests repeatedly aired baseless allegations that Dominion machines switched votes from Trump to Joe Biden.

Trump himself appeared on Fox News' programme The Five last week to defend the war, arguing that Operation Epic Fury has weakened the Iranian regime. The network also aired a segment by host Mark Levin over the weekend, where he cited "a lot of reasons" for sending troops into Iran. However, Fox News simultaneously published an unfavourable poll revealing that 59% of Americans disapprove of Trump's performance as commander-in-chief, with 58% opposing the Iran conflict.

Trump's Reaction and Greene's Stance

During his Fox News interview, Trump lashed out at the poll, stating, "I hate Fox polls. Honestly, whoever does your polls are terrible." He expressed frustration that Rupert Murdoch had not removed the pollster, as he claimed was promised. Greene, meanwhile, has criticised Trump for entering the conflict, arguing it contradicts his "America First" agenda. She highlighted the irony that Gen Z and millennial troops are being sent to Iran by an administration that pledged to end foreign wars and focus on domestic affordability and job creation.

A Fractured Alliance

Greene's relationship with Trump deteriorated last year after she persistently called for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, transforming her into one of his most vocal critics. The White House retaliated in a statement to Fox News Digital, labelling Greene's actions as "America Last" and accusing her of quitting on her constituents and the MAGA movement mid-term. Spokesperson Davis Ingle emphasised that President Trump is dedicated to "Make America Great Again" and has no time for "quitters."

This public feud underscores the deepening divisions within conservative circles over the Iran war and media representation, with Greene's accusations casting a shadow over Fox News' credibility among its traditional viewer base.
