Don Lemon Claims He Could Outperform Trump as President in Hypothetical Race
Don Lemon Says He Could Run Country Better Than Donald Trump

Don Lemon Voices Confidence in Presidential Potential Over Trump

Don Lemon has expressed a firm belief that he would make an exceptional presidential candidate and could significantly outperform former President Donald Trump. The 60-year-old media personality, while stating he holds no current "aspiration to become president," confidently asserted that he could "run this country a lot better than Donald Trump." These remarks were made during a recent appearance on the podcast Pod Save America, where Lemon elaborated on his political views and hypothetical ambitions.

Lemon's Self-Assessment and Political Alignment

"I think I could be president of the United States," Lemon declared, acknowledging that many might consider this notion absurd. "I know people are going to think I'm crazy. This is going to be the headline, and people are going to laugh about it." Despite describing himself as an Independent, Lemon indicated that in a hypothetical electoral scenario, he would most likely run on a Democratic ticket. He questioned the conventional barriers to such aspirations, asking, "Look, why can't I think about running for office? Why can't I think about being president of the United States when look at what we have?"

Drawing a parallel to former President Barack Obama's unexpected rise in 2008, Lemon noted that few believed Obama would secure the White House initially. "Anybody ever think that he would become president, that he had that aspiration?" he reflected. However, unlike Obama, who had a established career as a U.S. senator before his presidency, Lemon's background is rooted in journalism.

Career Focus and Legal Entanglements

Currently, Lemon is focused on building his own media channel and network, stating, "I'm busy, I'm building my own channel, and I'm building my own network, and we'll see where that goes." He also suggested that his insider experience could benefit news organizations, claiming, "if they dropped me into a news organization, I could fix it up. I could clean up the place." This confidence extends to his broader ambitions, as he proclaimed, "Don Lemon is ready to conquer the world."

Lemon's journey took a turn in 2023 when he was fired from CNN following controversial comments about women in their 40s. Since then, he has faced legal issues, including an arrest in January for participating in an anti-ICE protest at a Minnesota church. The pastor of the church reportedly works for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Lemon was released without bail after his first court appearance in Los Angeles, and the case has sparked debates over First Amendment rights.

First Amendment Defense and Protest Details

At a charity event, Lemon defended his actions, emphasizing his commitment to freedom of expression. "I'm here just because this is really important, and I believe in freedom of expression. I believe in the First Amendment, freedom of the press, all of those things," he stated. He urged support for independent journalism, adding, "I think it's important for you guys to support that, and especially to support - in this day and age - independent journalism in the media."

The protest targeted Pastor David Easterwood, with demonstrators clarifying that their objection was not to his faith but to his alleged role as an ICE agent. Lemon has maintained that he was present solely as a journalist covering the event. Similarly, independent journalist Georgia Fort faced federal charges related to the protest, also asserting she was there for reporting purposes.
