Donald Trump has escalated his feud with Candace Owens, delivering some of his most explosive insults yet. The president took to Truth Social on Friday to blast the right-wing commentator, branding her an 'extremely low IQ individual.' He shared an image of a mocked-up Time magazine cover bearing an unflattering photo of Owens with the title: 'Vile Person of the Year.' The parody cover included other fake headlines claiming Owens 'lies,' 'uses rich white men,' 'protects sex offenders,' and has a '0% fact check ratio on all credible fact checking sites.'
Trump's attack comes amid Owens' ongoing legal feud with French First Lady Brigitte Macron, after Owens repeatedly and falsely asserted that Macron was born male. 'Candace Owens' stock, which was never very high, has fallen a long way,' Trump wrote. 'Her attack on the First Lady of France is despicable. I believe, in this case, without verification, she is an extremely low IQ individual!'
Background of the Feud
Owens, 36, was previously a staunch supporter of Trump, but their relationship soured over the last year following her criticism of his handling of the situation with Iran. The tensions spilled over into a full-blown feud after Owens said she was 'embarrassed' to support the president. Her criticism mounted after the outbreak of the conflict with Iran, and the two have been trading jabs ever since.
Just days ago, Owens questioned if Trump was 'gay' during a monologue on her show, suggesting the president had sex with the French First Lady 'when he was a man,' according to Mediaite. Her comment came after Trump dismissed her as 'crazy.' Trump responded online: '"Crazy" Candace Owens, who accuses the Highly Respected First Lady of France of being a man, when she is not, and will hopefully win lots of money in the ongoing lawsuit. Actually, to me, the First Lady of France is a far more beautiful woman than Candace, in fact, it's not even close!'
Legal Battle with the Macrons
Owens is currently in an ongoing legal battle with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife after she falsely claimed the French First Lady was born a man. Owens based her allegations on what she called a 'thorough investigation' by French blogger Natacha Rey, who first raised the absurd claims. The Macrons filed a 218-page lawsuit in Delaware against Owens on July 23, 2025, seeking an unspecified amount of compensatory and punitive damages.
The couple stated: 'Because Ms Owens systematically reaffirmed these falsehoods in response to each of our attorneys' repeated requests for a retraction, we ultimately concluded that referring the matter to a court of law was the only remaining avenue for remedy. Ms Owens's campaign of defamation was plainly designed to harass and cause pain to us and our families and to garner attention and notoriety. We gave her every opportunity to back away from these claims, but she refused. It is our earnest hope that this lawsuit will set the record straight and end this campaign of defamation once and for all.'
A statement shared with the Daily Mail said Owens had 'promoted a preposterous narrative about the Macrons, including incendiary and verifiably false accusations of identity theft, incest, violent crimes, and mind control.' Owens doubled down in September last year to announce that the lawsuit would be escalated so that Macron undergoes a 'third-party examination.' The Daily Mail has reached out to Owens, the White House, and the Macrons for comment.
