NFL Star Files Defamation Lawsuit Over 'Fabricated' Allegations

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs has launched a defamation lawsuit against social media influencer Christopher Blake Griffith, who publicly accused the American football player of drugging, sexually assaulting, and later conspiring to have him killed. The 31-year-old athlete, who recently welcomed a son with rapper Cardi B, filed the legal action on October 1, branding all allegations as completely false.

The Shocking Claims and Legal Rebuttal

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the dispute stems from an alleged incident at Diggs's Maryland home in May 2023. Griffith claimed in a police report filed with the Montgomery County Police Department that Diggs had 'drugged and sexually assaulted' him. Furthermore, he alleged that a week after this incident, Diggs conspired to have him killed to suppress what Griffith described as the player's 'gay/bisexual secrets' after he rejected his advances.

Griffith did not just report these claims to the police; he also shared a screenshot of the incident report with his 99,000 Instagram followers, tagging the NFL, the Patriots, and UGGs, a brand that has a partnership with Diggs.

In his lawsuit, Diggs presents a starkly different version of events. He states that after a charity basketball game in Washington, DC, he, Griffith, and other influencers visited a local club before returning to his home. Diggs maintains that upon arrival, he went straight to his bedroom, and his assistant subsequently asked Griffith to leave the property. The NFL star accuses Griffith of concocting a lurid tale purely to gain online traction and stature.

Legal Proceedings and Personal Milestones

Diggs is seeking unspecified damages and attorneys' fees in the defamation case. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for July 2026, setting the stage for a protracted legal battle.

Griffith's attorney, Jake Lebowitz, told The Daily Mail, 'Mr. Griffith is looking forward to showing the world in Court that regardless of the fairy tale fabricated by Mr. Diggs' high-priced New York Lawyers, he is the victim of Mr. Diggs' unwanted sexual advances and his brother's violent attacks.' He added that they would not only defend against Diggs's lawsuit but would also be filing counterclaims for sexual battery shortly.

This legal drama unfolds amidst significant personal events for Diggs. He became a father for the second time last week when his girlfriend, Cardi B, gave birth to their son. Diggs was present for the birth. He is also the father of an eight-year-old daughter from a previous relationship and was recently confirmed, via a paternity test, to be the father of an Instagram model's baby girl, born in April.
