Offset is moving on and healing just two weeks after being shot outside a Florida casino. The 34-year-old Migos rapper spoke about the ordeal with Andy Bachman on the Creators Inc. Podcast, filmed six days after the shooting, revealing he felt 'blessed' to still be able to move.
The musician, who was hooked up to a vitamin IV drip during the podcast, was shot outside Florida's Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on April 6 and rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. On the podcast, Cardi B's ex-husband, who has since performed a concert, disclosed that he was shot in the hip.
When Bachman expressed amazement at Offset's quick return to normal life, the rapper said that 'people get shot every day.' 'You got to keep pushing. Like Energizer Bunny, man. Keep this pushing,' the hip-hop star, born Kiari Cephus, said. 'The show don't ever stop at the end of the day. I was blessed enough to be able to still move. So, I'm still moving.'
'The grind don't stop, bro. I don't want nobody feel sorry for me or no s**t like that,' he added. 'Like I'm blessed. I can keep pushing. So why would I just sit down? I got to keep pushing. I got to keep going.'
After Bachman asked whether Offset's 'pee pee' was injured, the musician replied, 'I just got hit in my hip.' He also said he has been busy in Los Angeles working on his new album.
Offset performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, just days after the shooting. He took the stage in a wheelchair but managed to stand for some portions of the show, as seen in footage posted on Instagram. Offset captioned a post to his nearly 24 million followers, 'REAL LOVE.'
Police allege that musician Lil Tjay, 24, instigated a fight that led to the shooting of the former Migos member. According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by the Daily Mail, law enforcement claims that Tjay, real name Tione Merritt, 'directed members of his party to start a fight with another group of males' around 7:22 p.m. on Monday night.
Offset previously responded to Lil Tjay calling him a rat, commenting on a social media post, 'U ain't buss nun.' Tjay was arrested on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge and later bonded out of jail. Amid his release, he told reporters, 'The last thing I [saw] was Offset looking at me like this: "Yo, that n***a shot me, that n***a shot me!" N***a is a rat, n***a. … I don't do no damn fighting. Did I shoot Offset? That s**t is crazy. I will smack the s**t out of Offset.'
Police allege that one of the men in Lil Tjay's group pulled out a gun and shot Offset in the valet area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Offset, Lil Tjay, the Seminole Police Department, and the Broward County Sheriff's Department for comment.
Lil Tjay's attorney, Dawn Florio, previously denied 'false rumors that Lil Tjay was involved in a shooting' in a statement on Tuesday. 'Lil Tjay has not been shot,' she said, dispelling rumors that spread online shortly after Offset was reported to have been shot. 'Nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting. Any reporting to the contrary is false.'
This incident comes more than three years after Offset's fellow Migos member Takeoff was shot and killed outside a bowling alley in Texas. Offset was previously in a high-profile marriage with fellow rapper Cardi B, with whom he has three children. Cardi filed for divorce a second time in 2024.
Following his non-threatening injury, which later saw him being wheeled out of a hospital, Offset took to Instagram to release a statement. He wrote, 'Thank you to everyone who's checked in on me and showed me love! I'm good...but I'm planning to be better! I'm focused on my family, my recovery, and getting back to the music.' The 'Bad and Boujee' hitmaker added that he is 'realizing that life is made up of quiet wins and loud losses.' He finished the note by declaring, 'Life is a gamble and I'm still playing to win.'
