Noah Brown, star of the reality series Alaskan Bush People, has emotionally revealed that he helped locate and identify the body of his eldest brother, Matt Brown. The 33-year-old shared the details in an Instagram video, describing the harrowing experience of working with search and rescue teams.
“For the past couple days, I’ve been working with search and rescue groups trying to locate the body. And today, the group that I was working with located the missing body, and I identified it as Matthew,” Noah said. He added that he was present when Matt’s body was pulled from a river and hauled up a bank.
Matt Brown, 43, was found dead over the weekend, with his brother Bear Brown announcing the news on Instagram. Bear indicated that Matt likely died by suicide, though they are awaiting the coroner’s report. Matt had struggled with alcohol and drug addiction and left the show in 2019 after appearing for eight seasons.
Noah explained that he waited to make the video until after personally informing friends and family. He apologised to fans who learned of Matt’s death through the video. The family has requested privacy as they grieve, and Noah promised to share more details once the official cause of death is determined.
Matt’s death follows that of his father, Billy Brown, who died in 2021 at age 68 after a seizure. The Discovery Channel series Alaskan Bush People ran from 2014 to 2022, documenting the Brown family’s life in the wilderness.
