A body has been discovered near a renowned Welsh aqueduct, prompting an emergency response and a police investigation. Authorities were called to the scene in Llangollen on Sunday morning, where they located the remains of a man.
Officers from North Wales Police sealed off the area and advised the public to avoid the vicinity. The family of the deceased has been notified, and the coroner has been informed of the incident.
Police Statement
A spokesperson for North Wales Police stated: "Shortly before 9.15am today (Sunday, June 14), we received reports that a body had been discovered close to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in Llangollen. Officers and paramedics attended the location where, sadly, a man was pronounced dead at the scene. The man's family has been notified, and the coroner has been informed. Our thoughts are with the man’s loved ones at this difficult time."
The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a popular tourist attraction in North Wales. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed, and inquiries are ongoing.
