Epstein Emails Reveal Andrew's Alleged Consensual Sex with Giuffre

Extraordinary new emails from the Jeffrey Epstein files have emerged, capturing a private exchange between the disgraced financier and a New York Times journalist. In the correspondence, the paedophile is advised about separating himself from Prince Andrew, with the journalist stating as fact that the royal had consensual sexual encounters with his accuser Virginia Giuffre.

Email Exchange Details

The unredacted email, dated January 2015, shows reporter Landon Thomas Jr referring to Giuffre as VR—incorporating her maiden name Roberts—and advising Epstein on managing his association with Andrew. Thomas Jr writes: "I think the big issue is separating yourself from Andrew. I mean in the end he had consensual sex with VR. And VR worked for you. The rest is atmospherics. You have moved on! People don't know that and cant accept that unless you say as much."

This exchange appears to be the first written corroboration that Andrew had sex with Giuffre, according to the emails released in a 3.5-million-document tranche by Donald Trump's Department of Justice. Epstein did not deny the claim in his response, instead focusing on his own reputational damage.

Background of the Allegations

Virginia Giuffre had long insisted she was coerced into sex with Prince Andrew, allegations he has vehemently denied. She claimed to have been trafficked by Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell in 2000 at age 16, under the guise of massage therapy training. Giuffre said she met Andrew after being flown to the UK in 2001 at age 17 and was pressured into sex by Maxwell.

Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing, stating he does not recall meeting Giuffre despite a photograph showing them together with Maxwell. In March 2022, he paid $12 million (£8.8 million) to settle a lawsuit brought by Giuffre, without admitting liability. Giuffre died by suicide last year.

Epstein's Response and Context

In the email exchange, Epstein avoided addressing the references to Andrew, instead complaining about his reputation. He told Thomas Jr: "My reputation has admittedly taken a hit," and called it "crazy" to suggest he would traffic women or seek underage girls.

Thomas Jr further noted that Andrew's continued association with Epstein was keeping the story alive, writing: "I mean I can see why a statement might help in some way—but its Andrew (not Clinton and the rest) that is keeping the story alive." This highlights the ongoing scrutiny of the royal's ties to the convicted sex offender.

The revelations add to the mounting pressure on Prince Andrew, who has faced calls for a full police inquiry to restore trust in the monarchy. The emails underscore the complex web of relationships and allegations that have plagued the Epstein case for years.
