Lisa Armstrong, the ex-wife of TV presenter Ant McPartlin, has shared a heartfelt tribute following the death of their dog Hurley. The chocolate Labrador was put to sleep last week after falling ill, with the decision described as heartbreaking.
On Instagram, Armstrong posted a poem that read: "You left paw prints on our hearts from the moment we brought you home, so many wonderful adventures, all the places where we roamed." It continued: "The rainbow bridge came to call you, our time came to an end, you were never just a dog but always our best friend."
Hurley, who was 12 years old, was believed to be the last remaining tie between McPartlin and Armstrong following their divorce in 2018. The pair reportedly came together at a veterinary practice in west London to say goodbye, putting aside personal differences.
A source revealed that McPartlin has left the UK to mourn, struggling to be in his home where Hurley lived. "He's inconsolable. He absolutely adored Hurley and, naturally, he's devastated," the source said. McPartlin had previously spoken about how Hurley helped him through his addiction, saying: "There's a loyalty, love and companionship with Hurley you can't describe."
McPartlin, 50, shares two other dogs, Milo and Bumble, with his wife Anne-Marie Corbett, whom he married in 2021. The couple also have a son, Wilder, born in May 2024.
