Detectives have made an arrest on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in connection with the investigation into child serial killer Lucy Letby. Cheshire Constabulary confirmed that a search warrant was executed at a property on Wednesday, leading to the arrest of an individual who has since been bailed pending further inquiries.

The arrest was carried out as part of Operation Duet, the ongoing investigation into corporate manslaughter and gross negligence manslaughter at the Countess of Chester Hospital. Police stated that the searches at the property have concluded, but both elements of the investigation continue without set timescales.

Letby, 35, from Hereford, is currently serving 15 whole-life orders after being convicted at Manchester Crown Court of murdering seven infants and attempting to murder seven others between June 2015 and June 2016. The attacks occurred while she worked as a nurse on the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

In a statement released on Thursday, police said: “On Wednesday 22nd April officers from Cheshire Constabulary executed a search warrant at a property in connection with Operation Duet. An individual was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. They have subsequently been bailed pending further enquiries.”
