A sombre scene unfolded at Currumbin Creek on the Gold Coast after a woman was found unresponsive in the water, leading to a desperate rescue attempt by emergency services.
Paramedics and police rushed to the popular waterway on Thursday afternoon following reports of a person in distress. Despite their best efforts, the woman could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency Response
Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed they received multiple emergency calls just before 3pm local time. A Queensland Police spokesperson stated: "We responded to reports of a possible drowning at Currumbin Creek. Unfortunately, despite immediate medical attention, the woman passed away."
