Team GB's curling teams kept their Olympic medal hopes alive with a dramatic clean sweep of three matches on Wednesday. Both the men's and women's sides now need to win their remaining games and rely on other results to reach the semi-finals.
The women's team produced the shot of the day when Becky Morrison executed a difficult hit-and-roll in the 10th end against the USA. Trailing 7-6, Morrison's final stone ricocheted off a distant stone, knocked the American stone off the button, and secured a two-point swing for an 8-7 victory. Teammate Sophie Sinclair called it 'one of the best stones I've ever seen'.
The men's team followed with a 9-2 win over the USA, but their progression depends on results elsewhere. They need either Norway or Italy to lose their remaining matches. The British men watched anxiously as Canada beat Italy 8-3 and Switzerland defeated Norway 10-4, leaving their fate in their own hands.
Skip Bruce Mouat remained calm despite the pressure, saying: 'I'm actually oddly calm. I feel like things are going to go our way.' The women face Italy on Friday, while the men must wait for Thursday's results to see if they advance.
