Podcast Co-Host Mourns Jessi Pierce and Children Lost in Devastating Minnesota House Fire

The podcast co-host who worked alongside Minnesota Wild reporter Jessi Pierce has described the profound pain she experienced following the journalist's tragic death in a devastating house fire. Pierce, along with her three young children – sons Hudson, 8, and Cayden, 6, and daughter Avery, 4 – perished in the blaze that occurred on March 21. As heartfelt tributes poured in for the mother and writer, Wild rinkside reporter Kirsten Krull opened up about her emotional struggle after hearing her weekly alarm to record the Bardown Beauties Podcast, which she co-hosted with Pierce.

Weekly Alarm Becomes a Painful Reminder

Kirsten Krull took to her X account to express her grief, writing, 'Every Monday me and Jessi would sit down to record the Bardown Beauties Podcast. This morning my phone buzzed with a notification that the record is coming up, except today it's not.' She detailed the difficulty of continuing with routine tasks, stating, 'Logging onto my computer, sitting at my desk with my microphone where we recorded was another hard thing I haven't yet done but have to continue to do.'

Krull reflected on the cruel reality of life moving forward despite personal tragedy, adding, 'I know me and so many others are feeling this, it's cruel that the world doesn't stop when terrible things happen even when we desperately beg for it to. The world keeps moving even when we feel like we can't. All we can do is continue to try to move forward the best we can.'

Tribute to a Devoted Mother and Friend

In an interview with SKOR North, Krull remembered Pierce as a devoted mother who 'made every moment special' for her children and ensured they 'knew that they were loved.' She emphasized her decision to keep the Monday podcast record notifications active, explaining, 'My heart hurts for everyone today just doing their best to make it through the day. But for as long as I can, I'll keep my Monday podcast record notifications on because it reminds me of how much special time I was able to share with Jessi weekly.'

Details of the Tragic Incident

The fire, which claimed the lives of Pierce, her three children, and their dog, was discovered after neighbors noticed smoke emanating from the roof of their home. Preliminary investigations by authorities suggest the fire was not an act of arson, according to The Minnesota Star Tribune, though the exact cause remains under investigation. The Fire Department stated, 'Our priorities are, first and foremost, being present for those directly affected by this tragedy, conducting a thorough investigation, and ensuring our first responders involved in this incident heal alongside the community.'

Neighbor Julie Andrus, who has lived next to the Pierce family for seven years, described the scene to the Star Tribune, saying, 'We were sleeping. By the time the cops woke us, it was like a tornado of smoke.' Andrus fondly recalled the family as 'so nice' and noted that the children were often seen playing in the yard, highlighting the close-knit community impact of this loss.
