Foreign Office Warns Against Travel to 75 Countries Amid Middle East Conflict

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has updated its list of countries where British nationals are advised against travel, now including 75 nations as of March 4. The warnings have been expanded following the escalation of the Middle East conflict, with new areas added since late February.

The current crisis began on February 28, when the US and Israel launched extensive strikes on Iran, resulting in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The instability has caused travel disruption across the Gulf region, including in Dubai, and is causing anxiety for travellers with upcoming plans.

Travel warnings are issued for reasons including political conflicts, natural disasters, and safety concerns. Travellers who ignore FCDO advice risk invalidating their travel insurance and may receive limited consular support in an emergency. The FCDO advises checking its website for the latest guidance on specific destinations.
