Taylor Swift Celebrates Major Chart Milestone with 14th Number-One Single
Global superstar Taylor Swift has achieved a significant career milestone this week, celebrating her 14th number-one single on the music charts. The 36-year-old artist took to Instagram to share the news, also revealing that it has been over a decade since she last had two singles from the same album reach the top of the charts simultaneously.
Historic Achievement on the Billboard Charts
With this latest accomplishment, Swift now ties for third place with fellow pop icon Rihanna, both artists boasting 14 number-one singles. The all-time record for most number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 list remains held by The Beatles with 20, closely followed by Mariah Carey in second place with 19 chart-topping hits.
This chart success comes from Swift's 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl, released last October. Her single The Fate of Ophelia from this album topped the Billboard Global 200, while her new single Opalite reached number one on the Hot 100 and number two on the Global 200.
Double Chart-Toppers After 12-Year Gap
In her celebratory Instagram post, Swift emphasized the significance of this achievement, noting that this marks the first time since 2014 that she has had two songs from one album reach number one on the charts. "This is actually the first time I've had two Hot 100 #1s off of one album since my album 1989 came out in 2014, nearly twelve years ago!" she wrote in her caption.
The last time Swift achieved this feat was with her fifth studio album 1989, when three singles – Shake It Off, Blank Space, and Bad Blood featuring Kendrick Lamar – all topped the charts.
Behind-the-Scenes Celebration with Producers
To commemorate this milestone, Swift shared numerous behind-the-scenes photos and videos from the recording and production process. The clips showed her working closely with renowned producers Max Martin and Shellback, capturing early stages of song development including beat creation, melody composition, and lyric writing.
She also shared footage from the making of her Opalite music video, which features multiple celebrity cameos. The star-studded video includes appearances by Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lewis Capaldi, and Cillian Murphy – all of whom appeared with Swift on The Graham Norton Show in October 2025.
Music Video Inspiration and Creative Process
Swift revealed that the inspiration for her Opalite music video "crash landed into my imagination" during her appearance on Norton's talk show. The 90s infomercial-inspired video features Swift in various outfits including a brown wig and Jazzercise-style attire, with Norton himself making a cameo appearance.
"I remember thinking I got ridiculously lucky with the group I was paired with," Swift shared about her fellow talk show guests, describing them as people she has "admired from afar."
Personal Celebration and Fan Appreciation
The Grammy-winning artist concluded her celebratory post with heartfelt gratitude toward her fans, writing: "I can't even sum up my excitement and I'm so blown away by the love you've shown this song and video." She added, "I know that's a lot of numbers but it all adds up to me being so thankful to the fans who helped make this happen by welcoming this song into your lives with open arms."
Swift wrapped up the celebration with a photo of herself and her producers holding champagne flutes, along with playful references to imagery from her music video including pretzel, cactus, and rock emojis.
This professional milestone comes amid personal developments for the superstar, including recent revelations about her rumored summer wedding date with fiancé Travis Kelce, followed by reports that her ex-boyfriend Matty Healy and his fiancée have set their July wedding date shortly after Swift's rumored nuptials.
