Sombr's Subdued Exit After BRITs Stunt in Manchester
American artist Sombr, whose real name is Shane Boose, made a low-key departure from his Manchester hotel on Sunday morning, following his headline-grabbing performance at the 2026 BRIT Awards. The 20-year-old singer, dressed in his signature indie sleaze style with a cropped black leather and shearling jacket, dark shades, oversized acid-washed jeans, and a silver-studded belt, left the city after the ceremony's historic move outside London.
Staged Stage Invasion Sends Shockwaves
During the awards show at Co-op Live, Sombr's performance of his hit Undressed was interrupted when a man rushed the stage and shoved him off the podium. The invader wore a t-shirt reading 'SOMBR IS A HOMEWRECKER' before being removed by security. Sombr quickly resumed his set with Back to Friends. Representatives later confirmed the incident was a pre-planned stunt to promote his latest single, Homewrecker, generating mixed reactions online with fans praising its realism while others criticised it as messy.
Olivia Dean Dominates BRIT Awards 2026
The 46th BRIT Awards saw Olivia Dean sweep four categories, including Best Artist, Best Album, Best Song, and Best Pop Act. Her song Rein Me In with Sam Fender won Song of the Year, and she became the first woman since Adele in 2021 to top both the single and album charts simultaneously. In contrast, Lily Allen, despite chart success with her album West End Girl, left empty-handed.

Historic Move to Manchester
The BRIT Awards, traditionally held in London, relocated to Manchester for the first time since 1977, marking a significant shift in the ceremony's history. Hosted by Jack Whitehall, the event is set to rotate UK locations in future years, broadening its audience beyond the capital. This change reflects a growing trend in the music industry to decentralise major awards shows.
