Scottish Lib Dems Poised to Challenge SNP in Multiple Constituencies
Lib Dems on Verge of Beating SNP in Many Seats

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton has declared his party is "on the verge of winning against the SNP" in many constituencies across Scotland. The statement was made during a campaign visit to a cafe in Linlithgow on Saturday, where he outlined detailed proposals aimed at addressing the pressing cost-of-living crisis.

Campaign Focus on Economic Relief

While engaging with voters in Linlithgow, Cole-Hamilton emphasised his party's commitment to reducing household expenses through practical measures. He highlighted a dual approach to lowering energy bills, which includes implementing an emergency insulation programme and accelerating the deployment of climate-friendly heating systems alongside solar panels.

Renewable Energy and Community Benefits

A key pledge involves revising community benefit regulations to ensure local residents receive a larger share of profits from renewable energy projects developed in their areas. Cole-Hamilton argued that this would help communities directly benefit from Scotland's clean energy potential while supporting economic fairness.

"Scotland has so much going for it, but right now it feels like our country simply isn't working," Cole-Hamilton stated. He noted widespread concerns among constituents about diminishing purchasing power, with many reporting that their salaries no longer cover daily necessities as effectively as before.

Broader Economic Policies

Beyond energy, the Scottish Liberal Democrats propose reforms to business rates to prevent sudden tax increases that could threaten employers. Cole-Hamilton framed this as part of a broader strategy to stimulate economic stability and growth.

In his appeal to voters, Cole-Hamilton was direct: "You have two votes. In many constituencies we are on the verge of winning against the SNP but wherever you are, every vote for the Scottish Liberal Democrats on the second peach ballot will deliver change with fairness at its heart."

He concluded by asserting, "Scotland deserves better and with the Scottish Liberal Democrats, you can vote for it," positioning his party as a viable alternative for those seeking tangible improvements in governance and economic conditions.
