Tony Blair Named to Trump's Gaza 'Board of Peace' in Major White House Plan
Sir Tony Blair joins Trump's Gaza 'Board of Peace'

The White House has announced that former British Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair will serve on a new Gaza 'Board of Peace' established by US President Donald Trump, aimed at forging a lasting settlement for the troubled territory.

High-Profile Executive Board Unveiled

In a statement released on Friday 16 January 2026, the White House published the list of founding members for the board's executive committee. Sir Tony Blair's name featured prominently alongside several key figures from the Trump administration and international finance.

The other founding executive board members include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and the President's son-in-law, Jared Kushner. They are joined by billionaire Marc Rowan, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and US Deputy National Security Adviser Robert Gabriel.

The board will be chaired by President Trump himself. The White House stated its purpose is to help "operationalise the Board of Peace’s vision," with each member taking on a specialist portfolio.

A 20-Point Plan for Gaza's Future

The announcement outlined a comprehensive 20-point plan described as a roadmap for "lasting peace, stability, reconstruction, and prosperity in the region." The focus will be on practical measures for Gaza's stabilisation.

Each executive board member will oversee a defined area critical to the long-term project. These portfolios are set to include governance capacity-building, regional relations, large-scale funding, capital mobilisation, reconstruction, and investment attraction.

Advising the New Interim Authority

Sir Tony Blair's involvement extends to a second, broader panel. His name also appears on a longer list for a "Gaza Executive Board," designed to advise a newly established interim government for the territory.

This interim body, the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, was formed on Wednesday and is led by Palestinian technocratic officials. Sir Tony Blair and ten others, including Witkoff and Kushner, are tasked with supporting this fledgling government.

Their role will be to guide on "effective governance and the delivery of best-in-class services that advance peace, stability, and prosperity for the people of Gaza." When approached for comment, Sir Tony Blair's office did not immediately respond.

The creation of these boards signals a significant new push by the Trump administration to implement a structured, long-term strategy for Gaza, drawing on high-profile international figures to lend expertise and credibility to the effort.
