Recently, viewers have been granted a rare glimpse behind the curtain of this iconic series, thanks to Tonia Dunn, who shared her experience as an extra on the show. In a surprising twist, Dunn revealed that her professional background as a croupier was the key to landing the role, as producers specifically sought someone with authentic casino expertise. The mother-of-five from Sutton Coldfield admitted she initially had no idea she was auditioning for Silent Witness, thinking it was just a generic TV show filming in the Midlands.
"I didn't know it was Silent Witness actually," Dunn confessed. "It just said a TV show in the Midlands, and I actually went to Chateau Impney in Droitwich, Worcestershire." Speaking to the BBC, she enthused about the experience, calling it "brilliant and not like anything I'd ever done." For her scenes, the interior of Chateau Impney was transformed into a casino, a setting Dunn navigated by treating it like her real job to calm her nerves.
The Secrecy That Surprised
Despite her involvement, Dunn expressed astonishment at the level of secrecy maintained on set. She remarked, "I didn't get to know any of the storylines at all, so it will be a surprise for me as well, but I can't wait to see it; it was really professional." This behind-the-scenes insight highlights the meticulous production values that have kept Silent Witness a fan favourite for so long, with plots tightly guarded to preserve suspense for both cast and audience.
New Episodes Unfold
The drama continues to thrill with its latest episodes, including a recent instalment titled Creekwood, which aired on Tuesday, February 10. In this episode, Dr Nikki and her colleague Jack, portrayed by David Caves, investigate the death of an elderly man found at a construction site.
