Princess Andre Admits Parental Conflict Marred Her ITV Reality Series
Princess Andre has candidly revealed that the vicious public dispute between her father Peter Andre and mother Katie Price severely tarnished the launch of her ITV2 reality television programme. The 18-year-old rising star, who is returning for the second series of The Princess Diaries, described how family drama overshadowed what should have been a celebratory period.
Successful Show Launch Overshadowed by Controversy
The reality series, which follows the young influencer navigating life in the public eye, achieved notable success as ITV2's biggest launch of 2025 outside of flagship programmes Love Island and Big Brother. Despite this achievement, the show's debut was clouded by negative press attention focused on Peter Andre's appearance in the programme and Katie Price's conspicuous absence.
Katie Price had publicly expressed frustration at what she perceived as disrespect and disregard, alleging that Peter Andre and his management team were responsible for her exclusion from her daughter's inaugural reality series.
Emotional Toll on Princess Andre
In the premiere episode of the new series, Princess Andre addresses the significant familial discord that emerged. 'It was difficult to deal with,' she confessed in an interview reported by The Sun. 'It caused so much family drama. It really upset me – I genuinely felt bad.'
The young television personality elaborated on her emotional response, stating: 'I was so excited for the show to come out and I still got amazing support, but it ruined it and upset me that it was causing arguments. It felt like it was all my fault. I thought: 'Oh my god, this is not what I wanted.''
Parental Withdrawal from Subsequent Seasons
Following the backlash from Katie Price, Peter Andre and his wife Emily MacDonagh made the decision to withdraw from the second season of The Princess Diaries. Insiders speaking to the Daily Mail indicated that Princess Andre reached this conclusion after discussions with her pop star father.
A source disclosed: 'Pete and Emily will not feature in The Princess Diaries seasons two and three. It was discussed between him and Princess, and they decided as a family that it's better for the show to focus on Princess alone, rather than her family life.'
The insider continued: 'Katie was obviously very hurt over not being asked to film alongside Princess for season one, and she caused a lot of drama and upset behind the scenes. No one wants Princess to feel caught between her two parents, so Pete has taken a massive step back, which he hopes will resolve many of the issues.'
Resolution of Longstanding Conflict
Katie Price and Peter Andre recently announced they have resolved their bitter war of words, marking their first interaction in sixteen years. The former couple, who married in 2005 after meeting on the third series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and divorced in 2009, issued a joint statement.
They declared their intention to 'close the door on the past and move forward into a new chapter with positivity and respect' while focusing on 'creating a calm and supportive environment for our children.'
The statement further explained: 'We have reached a mutual agreement, both legally and personally confirming that neither of us will speak negatively about the other going forward. This decision reflects a shared commitment to our family and stability. We want to stand united for our children.'
Background of Parental Disputes
Peter Andre had previously claimed that his children Junior and Princess lived with him for 'their safety' since 2018, a situation he said was enforced by a legally binding family court order in 2019. In a 2025 Instagram post, Andre stated he had remained silent for sixteen years despite what he described as 'repeated lies' from his ex-wife and her family.
A spokesperson for Katie Price told The Mirror: 'Kate is in a much better and clear headspace and is at peace with the situation, this was in the past and she doesn't feel the need to bring up tit for tat comments, but more importantly she's dealing with this the right way and it's now in her lawyers hands.'
The second season of The Princess Diaries becomes available from March 8 on ITV2 and the ITVX streaming platform, with the programme now focusing more exclusively on Princess Andre's personal journey as an independent young adult.
