Keri Russell, Kate Hudson, and Sarah Pidgeon were among the A-list celebrities who danced the night away at the Netflix Actor Awards afterparty in Los Angeles on Sunday. The glamorous event took place at Milk Studios, following the awards ceremony held earlier at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall.
Celebrating a Big Win
Keri Russell, 49, was in high spirits after winning the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her role in The Diplomat. She joyfully waved her blue statuette in one hand and her clutch bag in the other, boogying around the room. The actress looked stunning in an elegant black one-shoulder gown, paired with dramatic drop earrings and a slick of red lipstick.
Other Notable Attendees
Kate Hudson, 46, who was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for Song Sung Blue, attended the bash despite losing the award to Jessie Buckley. She was spotted quaffing champagne while linking arms with fellow actress Ali Larter. Kate changed out of her white awards dress into a slinky silver number that showcased her incredible physique.
Sarah Pidgeon, 29, the star portraying Carolyn Bessette in Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, joined the celebration wearing a strapless lilac dress. She was pictured chatting on the phone after kicking off her heels on the dancefloor. Sarah also threw her arms around Rose Byrne, wrapping her into a warm hug.
Demi Moore mingled at the party in a black dress featuring a dramatic tulle train that followed her around. She wore her hair slicked back in a chic bun with a glamorous palette of makeup. Aimee Lou Wood, nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her role as Chelsea in The White Lotus, also enjoyed the night with her peers, despite missing out on the win.
Surprise Wins and Emotional Moments
Ahead of the afterparty, Michael B. Jordan pulled off the upset of awards season by beating Timothee Chalamet for the top acting prize at the Actor Awards, formally known as the SAG Awards. The 39-year-old star won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, leaving him in tears as he accepted the award.
Jordan beat Chalamet, who starred in Marty Supreme, in a competitive field that included Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon, and Jesse Plemons for Bugonia. Chalamet, 30, was a good sport, standing up and applauding Jordan alongside his co-star Gwyneth Paltrow, 53.
Reactions and Recognition
When Jordan's name was announced, his mother, Donna Jordan, had a shocked look on her face as she joyfully grabbed his shoulders. During his speech, Jordan recognized his mother in a sweet way, saying, 'Mom, thank you for driving me back and forth to New York, when we didn’t have enough money to go through the Holland Tunnel.'
The veteran actor went on to thank his peers, admitting he wasn't expecting the win. He said, 'I wasn’t expecting that. I’m so honored and privileged to be nominated in categories with people and actors and humans that I love, and I love their work and what they contribute to our craft and just rise to has been unbelievable. So, thank you for welcoming me in and making me feel seen.'
Presenter Viola Davis' jaw dropped when she opened the envelope before announcing Jordan as the winner, shouting in celebration. Additionally, Jordan's film, Sinners, earned the top prize for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, beating out films like Frankenstein (Netflix) and Marty Supreme (A24).
Delroy Lindo spoke on behalf of the cast as they accepted the ensemble award, just one week after he and Jordan were presenting at the BAFTAs when a guest with Tourette's bellowed a racial slur at them.
