GK Barry Opens Up About Loose Women Journey and Wedding Plans
Grace Keeling, better known as GK Barry, has made television history as the youngest panellist ever to join the iconic Loose Women show. The 26-year-old social media sensation turned television favourite has now firmly established herself as a vital member of what she affectionately calls "that special girl gang."
From Nervous Newcomer to Confident Contributor
Barry admits her initial episodes were marked by overwhelming nerves that left her virtually speechless. "I was so nervous, I was mute my first couple of episodes," she reveals. However, the supportive atmosphere created by her fellow panellists quickly helped her find her voice and confidence.
The former I'm A Celebrity star credits the show with teaching her valuable skills in social awareness. "Loose Women's teaching me how to read the room," she explains, acknowledging that while her unfiltered approach has been key to her success, it sometimes leads to sleepless nights of self-reflection.
The Queen of Outrageousness
While Barry considers herself the typically outrageous member of the panel, she reveals one co-star consistently outdoes her. "Any time I have Denise on the panel. She's my queen," Barry confesses. "Usually I'm the outrageous one, but whatever I say she tops it."
This dynamic adds what Barry describes as essential fun to the show, creating the kind of engaging television that has made Loose Women a daytime staple for twenty-five years.
Personal Life and Influences
Barry's personal life remains a topic of interest, particularly her relationship with footballer Ella Rutherford. The couple, together for two years and sharing three dogs, are moving closer to marriage. "She does want a ring—and she may get one," Barry teases, though she wants the proposal to be a surprise.
Wedding planning reveals some differences in preference, with Barry adamant about avoiding a winter ceremony. "There's no meat on these bones!" she jokes, preferring a warm destination for their eventual engagement.
Strong Female Influences
Barry credits several strong women in her life for keeping her grounded. Her mother Loretta provides essential perspective, humorously reminding her daughter of her humble beginnings. "She'll say, 'Who do you think you are? You were that child whose head was too big for her body,'" Barry shares with affection.
She also praises her mother's unexpected television talent, recalling how Loretta once appeared on Loose Women herself. "If you think I'm loose-lipped, she's worse," Barry admits, noting her mother's natural comfort in front of cameras.
Life Lessons and Future Plans
Reflecting on her journey, Barry emphasizes the importance of authenticity. "Being myself has been the secret of my success," she states, acknowledging she once feared others' opinions but now embraces her unique personality.
Looking ahead, Barry continues to value her connections from I'm A Celebrity, particularly her friendship with Reverend Richard Coles, whose wisdom and perspective she deeply appreciates. She also fondly remembers her jungle experience with Oti Mabuse, whose positive energy provided a welcome contrast to Barry's self-described "glass half-empty" morning disposition.
As Loose Women continues to air weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player, Barry remains committed to contributing to what she calls a "powerful" platform where women can discuss anything without judgment.
