Reality television personality Sophie Kasaei has openly shared that she is currently immersed in what she describes as 'full nesting mode' as she anticipates the birth of her first child. This emotional period coincides with her fiancé, Jordan Brook, continuing his arduous battle against meningitis while hospitalised.
Sophie's Pregnancy Journey Amid Health Crisis
The 36-year-old Geordie Shore star has been diligently keeping her supporters informed about her pregnancy progression. She is navigating the complexities of impending motherhood while simultaneously supporting Jordan through his recovery. Sophie recently took to her Instagram Stories to reveal her nesting activities, showcasing a kitchen cluttered with food items and numerous boxes during a thorough clear-out.
She captioned the post: 'Full nesting mode has begun. Full cupboard clear out with the help of @kayking1968.' Nesting, as defined by the NHS, refers to a sudden compulsion to clean and organise in preparation for a newborn, typically emerging around the 37-week mark of pregnancy. Sophie is expected to deliver their baby boy in mid-June, with both partners fervently hoping Jordan will achieve a full recovery before the birth.
Jordan's Ongoing Medical Struggle
Jordan Brook, the 31-year-old star of The Only Way Is Essex, disclosed earlier this month that he had been diagnosed with a viral form of meningitis. This condition involves inflammation of the protective membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Importantly, this viral variant is distinct from the bacterial meningitis B outbreak recently reported in Kent.
On Sunday, Jordan provided a sobering update from his hospital bed, sharing a photograph that revealed extensive bruising. He wrote: 'Hospital update. Sadly after turning a bit of a corner on Friday I feel I have reached a plateau in hospital. Canulas are failing to stick I have had over 30 fitted. My body feels battered and bruised and is struggling to accept my anti viral medication.'
He further expressed his exhaustion, comparing it to '10 rounds with Mike Tyson,' and mentioned persistent pressure on his brain's frontal lobes. Jordan emphasised his mental battle, stating: 'Really fighting a mental battle at the moment. Thank you to everyone for you continued support I could really do with some positivity. I will not let this win!'
A Long Road to Recovery
Earlier this month, Jordan revealed the severity of his condition, noting he is unable to walk due to extreme weakness throughout his entire body. He acknowledged having 'a long way to go' in his recovery journey. In a heartfelt message, he thanked Sophie for her unwavering support: 'Thank you for holding me up all the way through this Sophie Kasaei. Still a long way to go in this battle but we are getting there.'
Sophie, now seven months pregnant, described this period as the 'worst month of our lives.' She provided a detailed health update, explaining that Jordan is suffering from both viral meningitis and encephalitis, the latter being inflammation of the brain itself. She clarified that this is not the bacterial meningitis making headlines.
Sophie wrote: 'He has viral meningitis as well as encephalitis... the encephalitis is what we are dealing with now and the affects that gives. Anyone who has ever witnessed a love one with viral encephalitis and meningitis can understand how scary it can be. Seizures are scary to witness but he's in safe hands.'
She poignantly added: 'As I go into my third trimester I pray for the day he comes home to me and we can enjoy these last few weeks preparing for our precious baby. That's all I can hold onto right now. Life is so unpredictable and it makes you appreciate so much more when you go through these times.'
\nThe couple continues to receive an outpouring of support from fans as they face these dual challenges of new parenthood and serious illness.
