President Donald Trump's official aircraft, Air Force One, was forced to return to the Washington area on Tuesday evening after encountering what the White House described as a minor electrical issue shortly after departure for Switzerland.

The distinctive blue and white Boeing 747 had taken off from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland en route to Zurich when the incident occurred. According to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, the crew aboard the presidential plane identified the electrical problem after becoming airborne.
"Out of an abundance of caution, the decision was made to return to Joint Base Andrews," Leavitt stated, emphasising that the issue was considered minor but required attention before continuing the transatlantic journey.
Alternative Travel Arrangements
Upon the aircraft's safe return to the Washington area military base, President Trump was expected to transfer to another aircraft to continue his journey to Switzerland. The President was travelling to attend the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, where he was scheduled to participate in high-level diplomatic and economic discussions.
The White House confirmed that despite the unexpected return, Trump's participation in the international forum would proceed as planned, albeit with a slight delay to his arrival schedule.
