Mum Loses 5st in Six Months Without Jabs or Fad Diets

A mother from Canterbury, Kent, has lost five stone in six months without resorting to weight-loss jabs, detox teas or punishing exercise. Teagan Hopwood, 31, dropped from a size 20 to a size 10, going from 16st 4lb to 11st 9lbs, by focusing on sustainable habits rather than quick fixes.

Ms Hopwood, a barista, began her journey after struggling to fit into shorts during a heatwave in 2022. She adopted a controlled calorie deficit, initially consuming around 2,200 calories per day and gradually reducing to 1,700 calories by the time she reached her goal weight. She prioritised protein, made smart food swaps, and still enjoyed takeaways like Pizza Hut and home-made chicken burgers.

She increased her activity with home workouts, including HIIT sessions and weight training twice a week during her daughter's naps. After losing weight, she strength trained four times weekly to build muscle and improve her body composition. Ms Hopwood emphasised that her rapid weight loss was not intentional but a result of consistent effort.

She criticised weight-loss jabs, saying she never considered using them. 'Even though I was overweight, I knew I could lose the weight on my own. It was staying consistent that I needed to work on,' she said. 'If you need the jab for a medical reason then fair be it but if you are just taking it because you don't want to put in the work then I don't agree with it.'

Now maintaining her weight for years, Ms Hopwood follows an 80/20 rule—80% home-cooked meals and 20% treats. She has transformed her relationship with food and body image, feeling more confident and active. She documents her journey on TikTok as @teags.weightloss, sharing workout routines and meal ideas.
