Strictly Star Trishna Bharadia Reveals Brain Tumour Battle

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Trishna Bharadia has emotionally revealed her battle with a brain tumour in a candid social media post. The 46-year-old, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in her late twenties, found fame when she competed in the non-celebrity version of Strictly in 2015.

Diagnosis and Surgery

On Thursday, Bharadia took to Instagram to share a health update, disclosing that she had been diagnosed with a brain tumour two months ago. She underwent surgery and is now recovering well at home. She wrote: "So the universe thought that multiple sclerosis wasn’t enough for my brain to contend with and two months ago I had surgery for a type of brain tumour. I’m recovering well with support at home and the surgeon is pleased with how it went. I can absolutely say I’m a bionic woman now as I have metal plates and screws in my head!"

Bharadia praised the hospital staff, particularly the nurses in the recovery unit, describing them as "angels in scrubs." She also thanked her neurosurgeon for guiding her through the major operation with "confidence, care and compassion." A special mention went to her twin sister, who stayed by her side before and after the surgery, helping her avoid panic.

Support and Recovery

Bharadia emphasized that recovery is "a marathon, not a sprint," and encouraged anyone affected by brain tumours to seek help from The Brain Tumour Charity. She was inundated with support from fans, with one writing: "Saddened to read this Trishna. You're an absolute trooper and I wish you a speedy recovery!" The Brain Tumour Charity responded: "We're thinking of you during this time and wishing you a speedy recovery. Thank you so much for sharing your experience."

Strictly Come Dancing Journey

Bharadia was one of six members of the public with inspirational life stories chosen to compete in a special four-part series of Strictly Come Dancing for Comic Relief in 2015. The show was hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. She was partnered with professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec, and they scored 35 points from judges Anton du Beke, Darcey Bussell, Len Goodman, and Bruno Toniolo. The scores were for guidance only, and the winner was former Royal Marine medic Cassidy Little, who lost part of his leg in Afghanistan in 2011, dancing with Natalie Lowe.

Career and Advocacy

Since her time on Strictly, Bharadia has continued her career as a patient advocate and patient engagement consultant, working extensively across the media. She remains a prominent voice for those living with chronic conditions.
