The Ordinary’s New Serum: A Youthful Transformation
The Ordinary’s New Serum: A Youthful Transformation

As someone with naturally hollow, shadow-prone under-eyes, I was keen to test the latest viral skincare ingredient: volufiline. Described as 'filler in a bottle', it is the trade name of the molecule sarsasapogenin, a fusion of plant extracts. Tracking down this headline-grabbing ingredient in a ready-made formula has not always been easy, until The Ordinary stepped in.

In its typical no-frills, purse-friendly style, the brand has launched a volufiline plumping serum designed to target areas most prone to volume loss – under-eyes, cheeks and smile lines. Positioned as a subtler, non-invasive alternative to tweakments, it promises visible fullness without the need for needles.

I have been putting the serum into my morning and evening skincare routines for over a month. The most noticeable improvement was around the orbital area: my under-eyes started to look plumper, with shadows less noticeable. Before use, I looked tired and sometimes even unwell; now, I feel I look brighter and healthier. My cheeks also look slightly plumper, and my smile lines somewhat softer.

Despite how impressed I am, it is important to be realistic with expectations. As with any topical skincare, it is not possible to get the same effect as with injectables. However, for a non-invasive option, this serum offers a visible difference with consistent use.
