A mother has shared her foolproof method for creating perfect Yorkshire puddings, claiming her technique "never fails" and has delighted followers on social media.
The Secret to Perfect Yorkshires
Posting on TikTok under the name Abbix, the home cook revealed her "cup method" which eliminates the need for kitchen scales or measuring spoons. The technique relies on using the same cup to measure equal amounts of each ingredient, ensuring perfect proportions every time.
"This way of making Yorkshire puddings, honestly, it never fails," Abbix assured her audience, describing it as "the only way" for her after trying numerous other approaches.
How the Cup Method Works
The process begins with four eggs placed in a jug. Abbix then measures plain flour up to the same level the eggs reached, ensuring an equal amount. She explains starting with eggs first helps the flour stick to the cup, making it easier to see the measurement line.
The flour is added to the jug with the eggs, followed by milk measured to the same level, plus a little salt. After mixing, the batter is divided between five slots in a pudding tray containing heated oil.
The Yorkshire puddings are then baked at 190°C for 25 minutes, emerging as large, crispy creations that impressed both the creator and her followers.
Overwhelming Positive Response
Social media users who tried the method reported excellent results. Helen described the puddings as "marvellous" while Mini called them "wicked" and Nina said they looked "awesome".
Many commenters confirmed they use the same technique with consistent success. Jackie wrote: "I use this method all the time and like you it never fails." Lynda added that a chef taught her this approach six years ago, and she's used it ever since.
CyndiLou called the cup measurement a "game changer" while Raine reported: "I did it this way and they came out amazing, thank you."
Some users did encounter issues, with Jodie noting hers sank immediately after removal from the oven. Others shared their own variations, suggesting additions like custard powder, vinegar, grated onion, or dried herbs to enhance flavour while maintaining the rise.
Important Warning About Flour
Multiple followers emphasised one crucial rule for successful Yorkshire puddings. Wendy advised: "Never use Self Raising Flour they won't rise always use Plain." Jac reinforced this message more emphatically: "NEVER EVER EVER USE SELF RAISING FLOUR ! EVER !"
The overwhelming consensus confirms that this straightforward approach to measuring ingredients could be the solution to consistently achieving the perfect Yorkshire pudding that rises beautifully every time.
