A terrifying grizzly bear attack has left a group of elementary schoolchildren and their teachers with serious injuries in a remote part of western Canada.
Chaos in the Wilderness
The incident occurred near Bella Coola, a rural community, where the school group was ambushed by the aggressive bear. Two children sustained serious injuries and were among the nine people affected. A male teacher is reported to have borne the brunt of the assault, while one child required extensive medical treatment, receiving approximately 100 stitches for their wounds.
One parent described the profound psychological impact on her son, who was left traumatised by the event. The child expressed a fear that he might never play football again after the harrowing experience of feeling the bear's fur during the attack.

In the aftermath of the assault, the aggressive bear responsible remains at large. Authorities have issued a stark warning to the public, strongly advising against any attempts to hunt the animal. The local Nuxalk Nation has advised residents to stay indoors as a precautionary measure.
The affected Acwsalcta School was closed following the traumatic event, which took place on Friday 21 November 2025. Emergency services treated seven individuals at the scene for less severe injuries.
